Lara Allen, Licensed Professional Counselor, has been in the mental health field for over ten years. She started The Center for Emotional Wellness, LLC because of her desire to provide excellent care to individuals trying to overcome the various difficulties that life can bring. Lara is well experienced in providing counseling services and psychotherapy to troubled adolescents and adults. She has worked in in-patient, outpatient, and correctional settings.
As a therapist, Lara relates well to her clients and has a special interest in helping those who struggle with disordered eating patterns, self injurious behavior, unresolved trauma, behavioral addictions, difficult relationship patterns, and personality disorders. She uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as her primary models of treatment. However, expressive therapies are also used when it is in the best interest of the client being treated.
Because she is dedicated to educating professionals and the general population, Lara volunteers time to professional and community organizations educating others on Eating Disorders, Self Injurious Behavior, Personality Disorders, special issues affecting adolescent girls, relationship improvement, and the development of healthy interpersonal skills.
Lara has a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas at Tyler where she graduated in the top of her class, and received several awards for academic excellence. She also received recognition from the School of Psychology for her commitment to promoting increased mental health services for the community.

Charlene Rogers, MA, LPC
Charlene has a Master’s in Psychology from Houston Baptist University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She has extensive post-graduate training in Play Therapy. Charlene has a background in education and has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings with children, teens, and adults.
Charlene’s focus is on relationship-based therapy. Her specialty is using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and experiential treatment such as art and play therapy to help her clients overcome their difficulties. She enjoys helping parents to find specific tools to improve their relationship with their children. In addition to private practice, Charlene consults for Project Kids and conducts school-based and home based therapy for foster children.
Prior to joining The Center for Emotional Wellness, Charlene was a therapist at the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) where she worked with children and their families who had experienced traumatic events. Her focus at the CAC included play therapy with young children ages 3 to11, individual, group, and family therapy with teenagers and adults. Her clients had a wide range of issues including, depression, anxiety, self-injury, posttraumatic stress disorder, bi-polar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sexual behavior problems, sexual abuse, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
While at the Houston Council on Drugs and Alcohol, Charlene helped teens and adults with drug and alcohol addictions. Her specialty was treating people who had dual diagnoses. She was responsible for creating and conducting a group therapy program for children of addicted parents. Charlene also has experience with teenage boys incarcerated for severe behavioral problems.
Charlene maintains an active role in the community. She volunteers her time to Child Advocates of Fort Bend County, Fort Bend Cares, the Alzheimer’s Association, and local churches. She has two children, one in college and one in high school. Charlene enjoys speaking to groups about parenting, child abuse prevention, child or teen issues, and the benefits of play therapy.

Katie Springs, MS
At The Center for Emotional Wellness, LLC, Katie provides individual adolescent and adult counseling as an intern for a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, grief, divorce recovery, adjustment issues, and relationship difficulties. She also provides couples counseling.
Katie has a special interest in clients with chronic pain, chronic illness, caregivers of these populations, anxiety disorders, and professionals in crisis. Her ability to relate to clients in these areas allows her to connect with them in a meaningful way.
Drawing on her own life experiences related to chronic pain and illness, as well as the caregiver role, Katie relates well to clients who are struggling with the dynamics of these issues.
Prior to her career transition into counseling, Katie worked for 15 years in professional and managerial positions in a major consulting firm and a large oil company. Her background in, and understanding of the corporate environment, combined with her counseling education and experience, has uniquely prepared her for helping professionals – from those who are experiencing “burn out” to those who are in crisis.
Katie completed a Bachelor’s in Management from Texas A&M University, and a Master’s in Human Resource Management from the University of Texas-Arlington where she received recognition for academic excellence. Katie’s continuing education includes completion of a Master’s degree, with honors, in Community Counseling in May, 2009 from the University of Houston - Victoria. She will continue to work on the treatment team at The Center for Emotional Wellness where her direct and interactive style is well received by her clients.
Katie enjoys speaking to groups and is a member of the American Counseling Association and the Texas Counseling Association.
